Good Morning!

My sweet baby girl right after she's woken up from a long night's sleep.

10 Weeks Old!

Avery turned 10 weeks old today!! Double digits already.....wow! To celebrate, we went swimming for the first time. The heat index has been at least 100 degrees here in Alabama for the past week or so, so swimming sounded so nice! We went over to Katie's house, and she played with Avery. Avery did very well. I knew she would because she loves her bath so much!

Taking a nap in the shade. It is so exhausting to float around the pool :)

Also, we have received our online proofs for Avery's 6 Week photos. If you are interested, here is the info:

Little Miss Piggy

Avery received the cutest gift the other day from a lady who I work with. She MADE this little piggy bank! It's about the same size as Avery...see for yourself....

Immunizations

Avery had her first round of shots today. She was a trooper. It was four shots and one oral vaccine. A little crying that quickly went away when I picked her up. She weighed 9 pounds 8 ounces which is the 25th percentile, and she was 21 inches long which is also the 25th percentile. He said that that statistic did not account for her being early, so she is right on schedule. She must be one smart cookie, though, because her head circumference was in the 90th percentile! The pictures below are from today. As you can see by the bright yellow and blue room, the first one is taken in our pediatrician's office. This is BEFORE the shots:

This is AFTER the shots. She has started rubbing her eyes with her fist, and that is what she is doing in this picture. Notice the little bandaids on her thigh...two shots on each thigh.

Comparison

I have a picture of me at 2 months old, and I tried to replicate it with Avery. Here's what I got:

Busy Week

This has been a busy week for us already. Sunday was Matt's first Father's Day. Avery was dedicated at church that day also. My family came in town for the dedication. She did very well---she slept through it! I started back to work on Monday, and that was harder than I had expected it to be. Matt kept her all day by himself and did a wonderful job! It was much easier knowing that she was at home with her daddy. Avery's cousins, Isabel and William, are in town this week, so we went and had dinner with them last night. There were some pretty cute pictures taken, so check out their family blog! Today (Tuesday), I had a doctor's appointment this morning (I have officially been released from being an OB patient!!), and Avery has a doctor's appointment this afternoon for her first shots. Below are some pictures that should have been posted before now, but oh well. Like I said, it has been a busy week so far!

Oh, anyone out there know much about blogging?? Why am I not able to rearrange my pictures anymore after they upload? They upload in a weird order (not chronological), and I am unable to move them around now.

Happy 7th Anniversary, Josh and Jenn!

Happy First Father's Day, Daddy!! She's so happy for you!

This was at Avery's dedication at church on Sunday.

Trip to Nashville

Matt was at church camp this week in a small town close to Nashville, so Avery and I packed up and headed north to stay with my parents for the week (they live in Nashville). She did great on the way up---she cried for about 5 minutes when we were about 20 minutes away from my parent's house and then went back to sleep. When we got there, I fed her and my dad unloaded the car. When he said that he had unloaded everything, I told him that there should be a large orange beach bag. He went back outside to check the car and came back empty-handed. It was not there; it was at home in Avery's room. The big orange beach bag was all of Avery stuff and my flat iron for my hair. Luckily, Matt did not leave until the next day to head up for church camp. I was able to go see him at camp and get the bag from him, so we were only 2 days without the bag. On the way home, I only forgot a couple of things, but nothing as big as Avery's entire bag! She did very well on the way home---did not cry at all. She would wake up for a little while and look around and then go back to sleep. Hopefully we have a good traveler on our hands!

While we were in Nashville, we visited with family and friends, many of which had never met Avery. It was a fun trip for all of us! Another "big" thing that happened while we were in Nashville is that Avery started smiling...a lot! She did (and does) the most smiling after her morning feeding. She's starting to coo as well. I love it! Of course I took many, many pictures. Enjoy!

Pleasant face...the beginnings of a smile
So happy!
She loves looking at windows, ceiling fans....you know, all of the expensive toys that we bought her :)
Asleep holding on to her lovey. So precious.
Good morning!
A little smile
In this one she is cooing very loudly while smiling

Fancy Feet

I will admit that I love having a little girl who I can dress-up in fun clothes, and I know that this love of mine will only get stronger as she gets older! I'm afraid that it is going to get out of control.

Here she is today in some fun socks that we received as a gift from a family friend in Arkansas. Aren't they the cutest??

7 weeks old!

Avery turned 7 weeks old yesterday! She is getting so big! I took some video of her playing on her playmat, but I only took one still shot of her, and she's asleep. I've got to get better about that. I also did our very accurate weighing system (I hold her and weigh and then put her down and weigh), and according to that, she weighs 9 pounds and 1-2 ounces! The little pajamas that she is wearing in the picture are newborns. I'm not sure if you can tell or not, but they are a little small (the sleeves are short, and when she straightens out her legs, the legs are too short!). We might try out our 3 month pjs tonight to see how they fit. We are also about to move up a size in diapers....from newborns to 1s!

Wake Up, Sunshine

I was able to capture Avery waking up from a little nap. She's quite content for about 2 minutes. For your sake, I quit taping as soon as she started to scream. There's a good attempt to try and re-pacifier herself, a couple sneezes, and lots of looks at me asking, "why aren't you helping me?"

That's Matt in the background saying, "Buddy." That is what he calls her most of the time. When she's crying her calls her "Grumples."

ExerSaucer Fun!

Avery sat in her Exersaucer for the first time today. She was completely surrounded with blankets because I don't think she's quite big enough to fit. It lasted about 5 minutes.
Her little legs are about 2 inches short of touching.
At first she held her head up all by herself and enjoyed looking at the toys.
Then she decided that she would just eat one of the blankets.

Tights

Today Avery learned one of the painful ways of life of a lady. Pantyhose, or tights to her. She learned about modesty as we got ready for church today. I know it's 100 degrees outside, but inside the church building it's closer to 50 degrees. She actually doesn't mind them.

Taking a little nap on Daddy's office couch after I was picked up from the nursery.

Pantyhose-toes!

I forgot to take a picture last week of Avery's first restaurant visit (O'Charley's). Here she is today at Jim N Nick's. She fell asleep shortly after this and slept the entire time.

Boring Saturday

Pretty blue eyes. Avery has such a sweet little face. So pleasant.
Can you tell how big her little belly is? This onesie is being stretched to the limit! I suppose it's time to move up a size...
One of the things that I like most about being a home-owner is having a yard. We were lucky when we bought this house because it has a wonderful yard. I can't wait until Avery can appreciate it and play in it! For now, we are all enjoying the blooming hydrangeas and lilies.

Sittin' Around

Here are some pictures of Avery just sitting around the house. I am making a conscious effort to cherish these moments while she's tiny, but I can't help to think about how it's going to be when she can do big girl stuff....like sit :)

Sitting in the Bumbo and holding up my head all by myself!

This is how Avery prefers to sit on Daddy.

Who's holding me? Oh hey Dad!
Talking with Daddy.

Sitting on the couch like a big girl.

This is how I prefer to sit in my swing.
