Zoo Members!

For her birthday, Avery received a family zoo membership to the Birmingham Zoo. Now we can go anytime we'd like!! We went to the zoo on Mother's Day, and Avery had a blast. Her favorite part is, without a doubt, the petting zoo area. It is set up like a farm, and she LOVED the goats.

These goats, on the other hand, had no protection from a very loving and "gentle" one year old...

Poor, poor goats.

The Birmingham Zoo also has a Lorakeet exhibit. For $0.50 you can purchase a cup of nectar to feed the birds. I am NOT a bird person, so this little enclosure is a bit more than I can handle, but I was trying to be strong and not put my fears and quirks on Avery. Doesn't seem like she noticed...

She thought it was great that these birds would just fly right up to her, land on her, sit on her, and eat the nectar from the cup.
