Rolling Over (Back to Stomach)

Here are some pictures of Avery after she has rolled over from back to stomach. I am probably annoying you all with the postings on her rolling over, but for some reason, this is a really big deal to me. My little cheat sheet says that this is supposed to happen anywhere from 4 months to 9 months. Avery turned 4 months last Friday! Looks like we might be catching up on the milestones! There are also some videos of her rolling over. She was very quick, so on the last one I started when I thought she was going to roll over, and of course she took her sweet time :)

Fun with Naptime...

The pictures are from the naptime after Avery figured out how to roll over from back to stomach and vice versa. Nighttime tonight might be tricky. I'm not expecting you to be able to tell what position she is in, but I want you to notice the paci on the floor. This is the first time this has happened....another "milestone" I suppose.
Ok, her normal position is her head to the left (same side as the puppy dog) and feet to the right.
I guess she likes the view of her mobile better in this position.
And just in case you are wondering, yes, she is only in a diaper. She has had multiple dirty diapers, and I am done with changing clothes every time. She has also had a clear, runny nose today. She may have a bug, or like my pediatrician thinks, she may be starting to teeth. Is it bad of me to wish it's just a bug??

Avery's Sleeping Habits

Avery has always been a funny sleeper. First she required nothing, then a paci, then a lovey, then the lovey covering her face. Now there is a new element. She likes to keep her feet in the air. I snapped a couple of shots today during some of her naps.

These are from nap #1: Here she is with her feet in the air and ankles crossed. So lady-like.
When she is falling asleep, I leave her alone. If I remember, I go back in and put her blanket up under her legs to help support them.
This is from nap #2: Here she is with them sticking straight up in the air. Hilarious. I'm not quite sure where she gets this.

Happy Birthday, Aunt Jenn! (and 18 Weeks)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AUNT JENN!!
Then she thought it would be more fun to eat the paper....
Avery is 18 weeks old today. She is starting some new tricks...one that she just started this morning. I went upstairs to grab the camera to take the pictures above, and when I got back down, this is what I found. She was originally placed in the center of the mat under the mirror.
Going, going, going....
...Gone!! She rolled over from back to front. I feel like this is early for this trick, but maybe not. Either way, I am not quite ready to have such a potentially mobile child who knows how to roll in all directions.

Also this week we received the proofs from her 3 month photo shoot. The information to view them is below.

Hand, Foot, and Mouth

No, Avery does not have the virus, but she does have a new trick. She recently discovered that her feet were toys that are always attached to her body. She loved grabbing them and pulling them to her chest. Why just grab them when you can suck on them? She has started pulling them up to her mouth. She concentrates very hard on performing this task. A couple times she has attempted to get both feet in at the same time...she becomes very frustrated. Sorry that the pictures are a little overexposed...bad lighting.

4 Months Old

Avery went to the doctor today for her 4 month check up; this visit also came with some immunizations. Here are her stats:
12 pounds 7.5 ounces (30th percentile)
23.5 inches (40th percentile)
head circumference = 90th percentile
He said he was very happy with her growth and development and that she looked very healthy. And, unlike last visit (2 month check up), I was able to answer "yes" to all of the milestones...woo hoo! Here are some pictures from the day's events:

This is actually a picture from Avery's 2 month check up....
Here she is today at her 4 month check up....any differences?
Showing off her chunky legs.
Making funny faces with daddy.
Sweet girl. She really likes standing these days.
Getting dressed after the shots. She SCREAMED this time. She cried for about 5 minutes. Hopefully she will react the same way as last time (no reaction really, no fever, no fussiness, etc).
Settling down with the paci and lovey. All better now.

This morning Avery and I went to a Pampered Chef party. It was a lot of fun--so much fun that I decided that I would host one! My date is set for September 29 at 6:30 (dinner provided) at my house. It is right in time to see the newest gadgets and some old favorites and start thinking about Christmas presents. Order at my party and get a head start on shopping! I would love for you all to come or order online using my name. If you have questions, let me know!

17 Weeks Old

Avery is 17 weeks old today. She is such a sweet baby. She is developing a little personality. She loves her toys now. Here are some pictures from this morning as she played on her playmat and had tummy time.

She now seems to know when someone is near her. She seems to be able to tell when someone is talking to her. It's hard to take pictures of her playing now because if she hears or sees me, she just looks at me instead of playing. Example:

This is sweet. This is her looking at herself in the mirror.

Tummy time was a little tiring today.

More From the Weekend

The last post featured Avery and Isabel, and this one will feature Avery and Will. They were very interested in each other. Avery was content to just look at Will, but Will wanted to touch, bite, pinch, and kiss---so cute! Here are some pictures:

If you can't tell, he's a little mad that he's being held back...
When we let him go, he decided to nibble on her toes.
Here he is giving her a kiss on the head...
Here's the proof...
Avery has learned a few new tricks....
She likes to play with her dresses. First, she grabs it, and then...
...instant peek-a-boo. When you pull it back down out of her face....
...she thinks it's hilarious!
She has also found her feet. She likes to hold them in her hands. She hasn't quite mastered getting them to her mouth, but she is very close!

Cousins

Avery's cousins came into town for the weekend, and we were fortunate enough to spend some time with them this evening. My sister in law and brother in law have birthdays coming up, so we went out to eat to celebrate and then back to my mother in law's afterward. Avery wore a little blue bubble that was one of the first outfits that I bought for her and the first outfit that I had monogrammed. It's very surreal that she is actually able to wear it now.

I can tell that Avery loves her cousins. She just looks and looks at them. I think that they like her, too! Here are some pictures with Isabel. No pictures were taken with William tonight---he is too fast! There is still hope because we are planning on seeing them again tomorrow.
Sweet lovin!

Lightning Strikes, Thunder Rolls

Today was an interesting day. I was upstairs on the computer a little after lunch (while Avery was taking her long afternoon nap) when all of a sudden there was the loudest noise I have ever heard. I have no idea how to describe it...it was frightening, deafening, and painful all at the same time. It was thunder combined with some other strange noise. Then, as soon as that noise was over, our smoke detectors started blaring. The power started blinking. The dogs started freaking out which made me extremely nervous. Then I could hear that it was pouring rain outside. I went down stairs to look at the weather, but we had no signal (which is weird because our satellite is actually extremely reliable). I then assumed that our dish had been struck by lightning. Unsure as to what all "getting struck by lightning" meant, I called Matt at work. While on the phone with him, I was walking around looking out the windows because the weather was being strange. I went through the kitchen and looked out the back window, and I saw it. The tallest pine tree in our yard, at least 40-50 feet, looked like it had been blown up. There were two places on the tree where there was no bark and very little wood. The tree was actually splintered. Thank God it did not fall (no, no, we get to PAY someone to come make that happen) on the house!! Oh, and in case you are wondering...Avery slept through the entire ordeal...not a peep. Below are some pictures of our fun afternoon...

This picture is to try and capture the scale of this enormous tree.
Here is the first (meaning closest to the bottom of the trunk) series of splintering. It's probably a good 20 feet up.
Some more splintering

All the pieces of wood and bark that was thrown.

There are pieces of wood literally all over the backyard....in all of the corners.
